Maryam Albishir, who was the mother-in-law of Nigeria’s Vice President Kashim Shettima, passed away in Kano on Sunday evening at the age of 69 following a prolonged illness.
On Monday morning, a statement titled “VP Shettima’s Mother-In-Law Passes Away” was issued by Mr. Stanley Nkwocha, spokesperson for the Vice President.
The statement announced the demise of Maryam Albishir, who was the mother of Vice President Kashim Shettima’s wife, Hajiya Nana Shettima.
According to Nkwocha, Hajiya Maryam will be laid to rest on Monday afternoon in Kano, in accordance with Islamic customs.
“She was renowned for her wisdom, kindness, and dedication to charitable endeavors. She will be remembered as a pillar of guidance and support, both within her family and the broader community in Kano,” noted a statement from the Presidency.
