In 11 Premier League games this season, James Maddison contributed three goals and five assists for Spurs. Unfortunately, he’ll be sidelined until January due to an ankle injury sustained in Tottenham’s recent 4-1 defeat to Chelsea. This setback has led to his withdrawal from the England squad for November’s Euro 2024 qualifiers. Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou also disclosed that defender Micky van de Ven, who joined from Wolfsburg in the summer, will be out until the new year with a hamstring injury suffered in the same match.
“Micky’s hamstring injury is evidently significant, and we anticipate a recovery time of a couple of months, likely extending into the new year,” remarked Postecoglou.
Tottenham faces the absence of Brazilian forward Richarlison, recovering from a recent groin operation, but Postecoglou expects his return shortly after the international break.
Defenders Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie will be sidelined for Saturday’s Premier League match against Wolves due to suspension, following red cards against Chelsea.
Looking ahead, England is set to face Malta at Wembley on Friday, 17 November, before a trip to North Macedonia three days later.
Maddison, with five appearances for England, served as an unused substitute in the 3-1 victory over Italy in October, securing Euro 2024 qualification for Gareth Southgate’s squad with two games to spare.
