American rapper Wiz Khalifa, also known as Cameron Thomaz, was detained in Romania after being caught smoking marijuana onstage during his performance at the Beach Please Festival on July 13.
Video footage shared on social media captured Khalifa openly consuming the substance during the event.
Romanian authorities confirmed Khalifa’s arrest for possession of illegal drugs in a press release issued by the Directorate for Investigating Organised Crime and Terrorism. They reported finding over 18 grams of cannabis in his possession and witnessing him smoke another quantity onstage.
Following the incident, Khalifa expressed regret on social media, clarifying that he did not intend to disrespect Romania. He acknowledged the situation in a post, saying, “Last night’s show was amazing. I didn’t mean any disrespect to the country of Romania by lighting up onstage.” Khalifa also thanked Romanian authorities for their professionalism and expressed his intention to visit again under different circumstances.
