Two young children were killed and nine others injured when a hooded, knife-wielding teenager went on a rampage at a Taylor Swift-themed dance workshop in the UK on Monday morning, according to police.
The tragic event took place just before noon in Southport, near Liverpool, when the unidentified 17-year-old arrived by taxi and began attacking the children and adults who tried to stop him.
Later, Merseyside Police Chief Constable Serena Kennedy confirmed that two children had died and nine others were injured, including six who were fighting for their lives. Two adults were also critically injured as they “bravely tried to protect” the children.
Responding officers “were shocked to find that multiple people, many of whom were children, had been subjected to a ferocious attack and had serious injuries,” Kennedy said.“As a mom and a nana, I can’t begin to imagine the pain and suffering that the families and the victims are going through at this time.”
