Israel and Lebanon’s Hezbollah engaged in their most intense exchange of fire on Sunday following months of escalating strikes.
This came as Israel reported deploying approximately 100 warplanes to launch airstrikes aimed at destroying thousands of rocket launchers in southern Lebanon.
Israel’s airstrikes, described as a pre-emptive measure against Hezbollah, were initiated early Sunday.
Meanwhile, Hezbollah claimed responsibility for launching hundreds of rockets and drones in retaliation for the killing of one of its senior commanders last month.
Israeli Prime Minister stated that the airstrikes are “not the end of the story,” indicating that more actions may follow.
Israel’s military emphasized that the strikes were intended to prevent a significant Hezbollah attack.
Hezbollah, on the other hand, asserted that its actions were a direct response to the death of their top commander.
