The Senior Prophet of Christ MercyLand Deliverance Ministry in Abuja, Jeremiah Fufeyin, has refuted claims that his ministry has misused the name of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) to mislead the public about spiritual items.
A statement released on Sunday by the church’s media department, signed by Sophia Iloyd, labeled the accusations as false. This was in response to a NAFDAC alert that the ministry had been using the agency’s name deceitfully.
The church stressed that it complies with national laws, including those governed by NAFDAC, and operates within the constitutional rights to freedom of religion and expression under Sections 38 and 39 of the Nigerian Constitution. The statement emphasized that the church uses spiritual items in line with its faith and biblical teachings.
The church denied the allegations, asserting that it never deceived the public or used NAFDAC’s name for any commercial purpose.
It also clarified that the only complaint against them is a petition by Mr. Martins Vincent Otse, known as Verydarkblackman, whom the church has taken legal action against for various accusations.
Christ MercyLand acknowledged receiving a letter from NAFDAC on August 27, 2024, requesting an inquiry into its use of miracle and healing items. However, the church claimed it was given less than 12 hours to respond and had already communicated its stance to NAFDAC.
Additionally, the church accused Otse of forging receipts to support his claims, noting that the fake receipts differed from the authentic ones issued by the church’s accounting department.
Despite informing NAFDAC that the receipts are under police investigation, the agency has yet to reply or address the issue.
