Augustine Eguavoen has stepped down as the interim coach of the Super Eagles, according to OwnGoalNigeria.
Eguavoen explained that his role was only intended for two matches. He was appointed after efforts to find a permanent head coach for the team were unsuccessful.
Eguavoen oversaw two 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, with Nigeria defeating Benin 3-0 and drawing 0-0 with Rwanda.
At the Kigali Airport after the Rwanda match, Eguavoen avoided discussing future games, stating his mandate had concluded and he was not involved in preparations for the next match against Libya.
