South Korea’s military has had to remove more than 1,300 surveillance cameras from its bases after discovering they could potentially transmit signals to China, according to reports.
The cameras, provided by a South Korean company, were found to have the capability to send recorded footage to a specific Chinese server.
This issue was uncovered by Korean intelligence agencies in July during a review of military equipment.
Although some of these cameras were located near the North Korean border, they were not used for monitoring it but were instead placed at training bases and fences.
The official confirmed that no data has been leaked, and about 100 of the cameras have already been replaced with domestically produced alternatives.
