During a speech addressing antisemitism in Washington D.C., former President Donald Trump criticized Jewish Americans who don’t vote for him, stating that Israel would face destruction if he loses the upcoming election.
He argued that Jewish voters would play a significant role in the outcome, given that only 40% support him, while 60% support “the enemy.”
Trump made these remarks during an event with Dr. Miriam Adelson, a Republican donor, lamenting that despite his support for Israel, he only received 24% of the Jewish vote.
He reiterated this sentiment at the Israeli-American Council National Summit, warning that Israel would face “total annihilation” if Vice President Kamala Harris were elected, claiming rockets would overwhelm Israel’s defense systems.
Trump also vowed to secure the release of Israelis held hostage by Hamas if he wins in November.
His speeches aim to win over Jewish voters who may be dissatisfied with the Democratic Party’s handling of the Israel-Hamas conflict.
Although 69% of Jewish voters identified as Democrats in an April 2024 Pew Research survey, Trump noted that his support among Jewish voters had grown from 25% to 29% in previous elections.
