The Federal Government has announced that Tuesday, October 1, 2024, will be a public holiday in honor of Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day.
The declaration was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who extended congratulations to Nigerians both domestically and internationally on this significant occasion.
In a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, on Friday, Dr. Tunji-Ojo commended the resilience and commitment of Nigerian citizens, promising that their efforts toward the nation’s advancement will not go unnoticed.
Reflecting on the theme for this year’s celebration, the minister encouraged Nigerians to pay tribute to “our heroes past” and draw inspiration from their accomplishments to tackle future challenges. He emphasized the importance of unity and collective action in realizing the Nigeria of our aspirations.
As the nation celebrates 64 years of independence, Dr. Tunji-Ojo urged all citizens to remain dedicated to the country’s development and wished everyone a joyful and peaceful Independence Day.
