Nigerian police have granted bail to singer, comedian, and content creator Darlington Okoye, known as Speed Darlington, who was arrested following allegations of cyberstalking made by fellow musician Damini Ogulu, or Burna Boy.
Speed Darlington was released to his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, after fulfilling the conditions set by the Inspector General of Police’s Intelligence Response Team in Guzape, Abuja. Sources indicate that he was taken into custody last Friday.
Adeyanju reported that he reviewed Burna Boy’s petition against Darlington and noted that there was insufficient grounds for the arrest. After being arrested in Lagos, Darlington was moved through several police stations before being detained in Abuja by the IRT, which accused him of cyberstalking.
Earlier, Darlington’s mother, known as Queen, alleged that Burna Boy and his team were involved in her son’s disappearance. In a heartfelt video, she shared that Speed Darlington’s gateman told her that Burna Boy and his team had taken him.
Queen pleaded with Burna Boy to release her son, expressing her desperation by kneeling in the video. She emphasized her concern, stating, “Nigerians, please help me. My son, Speed Darlington, has been missing for over four days after he made a video about Burna Boy and Diddy. Burna Boy came to his house with his squad and police and they arrested him. Please, I beg you to help me and ask Burna Boy to release my son.”
