A 66-year-old woman fell overboard from Royal Caribbean’s Allure of the Seas cruise ship during a Taylor Swift-themed voyage in the Bahamas. The incident occurred around 9:40 p.m. on Tuesday when the ship was about 17 miles from Nassau. The U.S. Coast Guard and the Royal Bahamas Defense Force have been conducting a search with the help of an HC-144 airplane and an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter.
Royal Caribbean immediately began search and rescue efforts and is cooperating with local authorities. They are also providing support to the woman’s family, but no further details have been shared out of respect for their privacy.
The cruise, which departed from Miami on Monday, was organized by fans of Taylor Swift as part of a group called “In my cruise era.” The trip featured events like karaoke, bracelet swapping, and themed outfits inspired by Swift’s Eras Tour.
It remains unclear whether the woman who went overboard was part of this group.
