A judge in Philadelphia has ruled that Elon Musk’s America PAC can proceed with its multi-million dollar giveaway to voters in key swing states.
Common Pleas Court Judge Angelo Foglietta rejected the request from Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner to issue an injunction against the initiative, which has distributed $17 million to voters in these states.
Defense attorneys mentioned that America PAC intends to announce the winner of its 18th and final prize on Tuesday in Michigan. The ruling came after a nearly six-hour hearing on Monday, during which a lawyer for Musk and America PAC disclosed that the winners had been preselected, despite Musk’s public claims that it was a “random” lottery.
Krasner’s lawyer characterized Musk’s giveaway as “one of the great scams of the last 50 years,” alleging that it misled over a million voters in swing states into signing a petition under the pretense of a chance to win a million dollars.
