Wendy Williams’ dementia diagnosis has reportedly advanced to the point of “incapacitation,” according to court documents filed by her guardian, Sabrina Morrissey. Describing Williams as an “acclaimed entertainer” who has been tragically affected by early-onset dementia, Morrissey stated that Williams has become both cognitively impaired and permanently incapacitated.
The documents also reveal that in January 2022, Wells Fargo took the unusual step of initiating a guardianship proceeding due to concerns over Williams’ welfare and finances. The bank sought the court’s appointment of an independent guardian for her financial affairs, with the case filed in the New York Supreme Court.
Despite her diagnosis, which includes aphasia and frontotemporal dementia as reported in May 2023, a store staff member described Williams as “sharp, upbeat, aware, and bubbly” during a September visit to Bolingo Balance in New Jersey. Her son, Kevin Hunter Jr., was reportedly more involved in explaining things to her during the visit.
However, Williams’ longtime friend, Regina Schell, has raised concerns about not being able to contact her, questioning why no one seems to be answering questions about her whereabouts. Schell expressed disbelief over the lack of communication from Williams, who she used to speak with daily, and questioned why no one has provided a recent photo, statement, or update about her condition.
