Chris Brown has consistently broken records, from becoming the first male artist with 20 Platinum-certified singles to surpassing Elvis Presley for the most Gold-certified singles among male artists.
This month, in addition to tying Beyoncé for the record of best-selling R&B singles artist, he made history again as the first male vocalist in any genre to have over 40 Platinum-certified singles.
The RIAA recently updated Brown’s certifications, adding his first Diamond certification along with several multi-Platinum and Gold plaques. Among his new Platinum certifications are “Indigo,” “Call Me Every Day,” and “To My Bed,” bringing his total to 41 Platinum singles. Only a few artists, including Travis Scott, Rihanna, Post Malone, Taylor Swift, Kanye West, and Drake, have more.
With a total of 114.5 million single sales, Brown now holds the record for the most single sales by any male R&B artist in music history. Across all genres, he ranks 10th, behind artists like Drake, Rihanna, Eminem, and Taylor Swift.
