Ghanaian football star Raphael Dwamena’s remains have returned to Ghana from Albania, where he tragically passed away last week.
The 28-year-old striker collapsed during a league match on November 11, 2023, between his club, Egnatia FC, and Partizani Tirana.
Pronounced dead shortly after, Dwamena’s body was received by his family in Accra on Friday night at Kotoka International Airport.
With a history of heart problems and multiple failures leading up to his passing, a minute of silence was observed in honor of Dwamena before Ghana’s 1-0 win against Madagascar in a friendly match on Friday. The talented footballer, who made his international debut for the Black Stars on June 11, 2017, against Ethiopia, scored a brace in the process and went on to represent Ghana in a total of nine senior national team games.
