A woman who accused Jay-Z and Sean “Diddy” Combs of assaulting her when she was 13 acknowledged in an interview with NBC News that there were some inconsistencies in her story.
She claimed the incident happened at a 2000 MTV Video Music Awards after-party but admitted to making errors in her account. Some inconsistencies include her saying her father picked her up afterward, but he doesn’t remember that. She also mentioned talking to a celebrity at the party, but that person said he wasn’t there. Photos from that night show Jay-Z and Diddy at different locations, though it’s unclear where they were throughout the evening.
The woman’s lawyer, Tony Buzbee, stated they are still investigating the matter. He added that his client believes her account and has even agreed to take a polygraph test. He also mentioned that the situation has been stressful for her, leading to health issues.
Jay-Z denied the allegations, calling them false and part of an attempt to gain attention. His lawyer, Alex Spiro, called the lawsuit without merit and said they would seek to have it dismissed.
Combs, who was recently indicted on charges including trafficking, is also named in a lawsuit filed by the woman.
