Several high-profile Republicans, including Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, have expressed support for declassifying intelligence files related to Jeffrey Epstein, regardless of whether former President Donald Trump is mentioned.
Louisiana Sen. John Kennedy stated he would be eager to review the documents and emphasized the public’s right to know the full truth about Epstein’s actions and associations.
Cruz reaffirmed his long-standing call for the release of Epstein’s files, along with those related to P. Diddy, arguing that transparency is necessary to expose anyone involved in crimes against children. Montana Sen. Steve Daines also backed the push for declassification, even if Trump is named in the documents.
Epstein, who was arrested for child sex trafficking in July 2019, died by suicide six weeks later. Trump and Epstein were known to be friends in the 1990s but reportedly fell out over a Palm Beach property dispute. While Trump initially spoke positively of Epstein, he later distanced himself, claiming he had not been a fan.
