After facing criticism for not expressing enough gratitude to Donald Trump, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky turned to social media to acknowledge world leaders who backed him following his heated Oval Office exchange.
On Friday, Zelensky met with Trump at the White House to discuss U.S. support for Ukraine amid its war with Russia. When the meeting was opened to the media, tensions escalated after Zelensky referenced Vladimir Putin’s violation of a prior agreement. Vice President JD Vance deemed the remark “disrespectful,” leading to a shouting match between the two presidents. In response, Trump canceled a scheduled press conference and asked Zelensky to leave, with no agreement reached between the two nations.
Roughly an hour later, Zelensky posted a tweet thanking “POTUS, Congress, and the American people.” Meanwhile, leaders from various countries took to social media to express their solidarity with Ukraine. In turn, Zelensky made a point to personally thank each of them.
