Nigerian travel content creator Alma Asinobi has announced her ambitious plan to visit all seven continents in an attempt to set a world record. Her journey, set to begin on March 15, 2025, will start in Australia and conclude in Nigeria.
Asinobi is undertaking the challenge using her Nigerian passport to highlight the challenges of passport privilege for African travelers. In a viral Instagram video, she explained her motivation: “I’m doing this with a Nigerian passport to raise awareness about passport privilege. After applying for over 10 visas—facing two rejections a total of five times—I’ll share why we cannot remain silent about the second-class treatment many citizens with low-mobility passports experience when traveling.”
She emphasized that this journey is not only about breaking records but also about pushing the limits of one of the lowest-ranking passports in the world. Her goal is to inspire others to explore the world despite travel restrictions and to shed light on the struggles faced by millions, particularly Africans at home and in the diaspora.
The current Guinness World Record for the fastest time to visit all continents is held by Indian travelers Ali Irani and Sujoy Kumar Mitra, who completed the journey in three days, one hour, five minutes, and four seconds.
