In an interview with NBC News, former President Donald Trump stated he “couldn’t care less” if his tariffs lead to higher prices for foreign cars in the U.S. While he had previously promised to lower consumer costs, experts warn that tariffs often result in price hikes passed on to buyers. Trump defended the move, arguing it would push automakers to manufacture more vehicles domestically.
Trump also addressed national security concerns, stating he does not plan to fire any officials involved in a leaked Signal group chat where military attack plans were reportedly discussed. He dismissed the controversy as “fake news” and insisted the U.S. had conducted a “tremendously successful” strike.
During the interviews, Trump revealed he has seriously considered annexing Greenland, claiming there is a “good possibility” it could be done without military action. He reiterated that the U.S. is determined to acquire the Arctic territory despite opposition from Greenlanders and Denmark.
On foreign policy, Trump expressed frustration with Russian President Vladimir Putin’s criticism of Ukrainian leadership. He also warned of potential 25% to 50% secondary tariffs on Russian oil within a month if Moscow does not support his ceasefire efforts in Ukraine.
Additionally, he threatened Iran with bombings and economic penalties if it fails to negotiate with Washington on its nuclear program.
When asked about a third presidential term, Trump did not rule out the possibility, despite the constitutional prohibition. He claimed many supporters want him to run again and emphasized that it is “far too early” to make a decision.
