Dwayne Johnson was forced to return to Hawaii instead of landing in Houston, Texas, due to a mechanical issue with his plane, he recently shared.
On Friday, Johnson posted a video on X (formerly Twitter) explaining that he was unable to attend the grand opening of the United Football League’s second season, where he had planned to hype up the crowd. Johnson, who is one of the UFL’s owners, expressed his disappointment but emphasized his gratitude for a safe landing.
According to Johnson, about 35 to 40 minutes into the flight, the pilot informed him of a serious issue, stating, “Mr. Johnson, I’m sorry to inform you, but we cannot continue to fly over the ocean.” The pilot explained that the plane had a hydraulic overheating problem, making it too risky to continue the journey. Johnson praised Captain David for his professionalism in handling the situation and ensuring a safe return to Hawaii.
Reflecting on the experience, Johnson shared the surreal moment of being alone on the plane, grappling with thoughts about what truly matters in life. He humorously recounted asking the flight attendant for a double drink while contemplating the situation. Despite the scare, he expressed deep appreciation for the crew, the safe landing, and what he saw as a sign from God and the universe. Though disappointed about missing the UFL event, Johnson remained thankful to be back home in Hawaii.
