A former Minneapolis police officer, Derek Chauvin, convicted in the 2020 murder of George Floyd, is reportedly in stable condition after being stabbed by a fellow inmate in a Tucson, Arizona, medium-security prison on Friday.
Following the attack, Chauvin received life-saving measures at the scene and was later taken to a hospital in serious condition.
According to Minneapolis Police Department Chief Brian O’Hara, Chauvin is now in stable condition, as reported by 5 EyewitnessesNews.
Both O’Hara and Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison condemned the violence, emphasizing that incarcerated individuals, regardless of their crimes, should serve their sentences without fear of retaliation or violence.
