The Federal Government of Nigeria has inked a Bilateral Air Services Agreement (BASA) with Kuwait, marking a significant step toward initiating direct flights.
Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, announced the agreement during the International Civil Aviation Negotiation (ICAN) event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, organized by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
Keyamo emphasized that the BASA will expedite the commencement of direct passenger and cargo flights between Nigeria and Kuwait, fostering trade, tourism, and economic ties.
The signing follows a previous bilateral agreement by Nigeria’s Federal Executive Council three months ago.
BASA facilitates designated airlines to conduct commercial flights, allowing Nigerian flights to travel directly to Kuwait, reducing economic costs and enhancing appeal for airlines.
