The recent armed bank robbery in Otukpo, Benue State, which led to the tragic loss of lives of police officers and innocent civilians, has been strongly condemned by Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun.
This condemnation was conveyed in a statement released in Abuja by the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi.
The IGP emphasized that this act of violence undermines the principles of peace, security, and justice that the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies tirelessly uphold.
In response to this grave incident, the Nigeria Police Force has initiated a comprehensive and coordinated effort to bring the perpetrators of this heinous crime to justice.
Additional operational and investigative assets and resources have been deployed to Otukpo, the Benue State Command, and surrounding states to assist in swiftly apprehending the remaining criminals responsible for this atrocity, following the gunning down of two of the armed robbers after a hot chase on Friday.
The IGP expressed heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims affected by this senseless act of violence and vowed to spare no resource or effort in bringing the perpetrators to justice.
In light of the urgency, all commands and formations have been put on red alert to prevent further deadly attacks on the nation’s institutions and innocent citizens.
The public has been called upon to remain calm and cooperate with the authorities by providing any information that may aid in the investigation and pursuit of the suspects.
The Inspector-General reiterated the NPF’s commitment to the safety and security of the Nigerian people, standing united against acts of violence and criminality and pledging to work tirelessly to ensure justice for those responsible for this reprehensible act.
