In 2020, Apple agreed to a $500 million settlement for a U.S. class action lawsuit over the intentional slowdown of iPhone performance.
Recently, eligible users who filed claims in 2020 are starting to receive payments, with reports suggesting amounts around $92.17 per claim.
The settlement applies to U.S. iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6s, 6s Plus, SE, 7, and 7 Plus owners affected by iOS versions before December 21, 2017.
Conditions included filing a claim and specifying the iPhone model and iOS version.
Following the “batterygate” incident, Apple introduced the Battery Health feature and, with the iPhone 15 series, implemented new battery settings for improved longevity.
