Rapper A$AP Rocky entered a plea of not guilty on Monday to charges of pulling a gun on a former friend during an argument in Hollywood.
The 35-year-old, known as Rakim Mayers, faces two counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm and one count of using the weapon during a confrontation with Terell Ephron on November 6, 2021.
Mayers, who has two children with Rihanna, was reportedly arrested in April 2022 at Los Angeles International Airport after returning from a vacation with Rihanna in Barbados. Ephron, also known as A$AP Relli, testified that Mayers had pulled a gun on him, fired a shot, and grazed his hand.
Mayers’ lawyer aims to go to trial by September, asserting his client’s innocence. A$AP Rocky gained fame in the last decade with mega-selling albums, facing legal issues previously in Sweden in 2019.
