The University of Minnesota Police Department issued a warning Thursday morning about a specific threat to “shoot persons” on the Twin Cities’ campus.
By 1:00 p.m., an “all clear” was given as the Chippewa County Sheriff contained the suspect in their county.
Joseph Mark Rongstad, the subject of the search, was described as 6 feet tall, 195 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes.
Throughout the day, law enforcement, including highway patrols, searched for Rongstad, who was believed to be in Watson, Minnesota.
Despite the threat originating on social media, there was no active shooter situation, and the campus returned to normal operations after containment.
