The State Security Service (DSS) has reportedly apprehended Aisha Ahmad, the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, over allegations of fraudulent acquisition of shares in Polaris Bank and Titan Bank (Union Bank).
DSS spokesman Peter Afunanya neither confirmed nor denied Ahmad’s custody or questioning.
Reports suggest she is also being investigated regarding the raising of $300 million by Titan Bank for Union Bank’s acquisition in 2022.
Afunanya emphasized that invitations for questioning during investigations are conducted within the legal framework.
Notably, this follows the DSS arrest of Ahmad’s former CBN boss, Godwin Emefiele, about two months ago. Emefiele has remained in DSS custody since then.
