Luis Vasquez, the driving force behind the post-punk/darkwave project the Soft Moon, passed away in Los Angeles at the age of 44, as confirmed by the L.A. County coroner. The cause of death remains undisclosed.
Vasquez’s demise is connected to two other deaths at the same residence – John “Juan” Mendez, a noted Los Angeles techno DJ known as Silent Servant, and Simone Ling.
The Soft Moon’s official statement expressed deep sadness, highlighting Vasquez’s significant contributions to the music world.
His journey began as a home-recording project, eventually gaining global acclaim with hypnotic sounds and successful albums, touring alongside acts like Depeche Mode and Interpol.
