Last week, Arnold Schwarzenegger made headlines due to a controversy surrounding a unique Audemars Piguet watch—an updated version of the Ref. 25770SN co-designed by the actor for “End of Days” in 1999.
This edition featured a special exhibition caseback with a skeletonized movement, a gold rotor engraved with Schwarzenegger’s iconic bodybuilder pose, and the text “Arnold Classic.”
The actor, en route to Austria for a charity auction, faced detainment for not completing customs forms, leading to a $38,000 (€35,000) ordeal.
Despite the hiccup, the watch auction exceeded expectations, selling for nearly $300,000 (€270,000), contributing to a total fundraiser record of around $1.4 million (€1.3 million) for climate crisis support.
While the customs incident’s intention remains uncertain, it undeniably drew attention to the charity auction, ultimately benefiting a worthy cause.
