The Nigerian government has intensified talks with the Kingdom of Morocco to expedite the Final Investment Decision (FID) process for the Nigeria-Morocco Gas Pipeline.
This initiative was discussed in a meeting between the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo, and the Moroccan Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, Ms. Leila Benali, with facilitation from NNPC Ltd.’s executives.
The focus is on advancing the partnership between the two nations for the Nigeria-Morocco Gas Pipeline Project, in line with the 2022 Memoranda of Understanding.
The project, with a 48” x 5,300 km pipeline from Nigeria to Morocco and extensions, aims to address energy poverty in Africa, emphasizing its strategic importance for both countries and the continent.
The ECOWAS Commission oversees its international aspects, aligning with AU, UN, and other relevant bodies, with objectives including gas resource monetization and fostering economic cooperation among African nations.
