Latah County District Judge John Judge deferred setting a trial date for Bryan Kohberger, the 29-year-old Pennsylvania criminologist accused of fatally ambushing four University of Idaho students in November 2022 at 4 a.m.
Originally scheduled for October, the trial was postponed as Kohberger’s defense waived his right to a speedy trial.
Prosecuting Attorney Bill Thompson’s office requested a summer trial date to accommodate the academic calendar, allowing more lodging availability and minimizing disruptions.
Kohberger, accused of entering a Moscow, Idaho residence and killing four students, faces potential death penalty if convicted.
The trial, expected to last 12 to 15 weeks, awaits scheduling decisions from Judge John.
