On January 25, 2024, a judge ruled that Tasha K’s revealing interview with Kevin Hart’s former assistant would not be taken down from her website, citing a vague and overbroad request that failed to address actual malice.
Hart’s lawyer, Donte Mills, responded by asserting that statements made in the interview were illegal, defamatory, extortive, and showed malice.
Kevin Hart had filed a lawsuit against Tasha K in December 2023, accusing her of extortion after she allegedly threatened to release the interview containing wild allegations about the comedian.
According to reports, a ‘cease’ letter sent to Tasha K in November warned of potential legal consequences, stating that engaging in criminal conduct and tortious acts could lead to monetary damages in civil litigation.
Allegedly, Tasha K’s team informed Mills that the interview could be withheld if Kevin Hart paid $250,000, framing the act as extortion under Penal Code Section 518.
Hart’s team reported Tasha K’s actions to the police, highlighting scandalous assertions against the comedian in the interview. The complaint also mentioned Tasha K’s team posting a teaser on YouTube as a threat, suggesting that the detailed story would only be withheld if the ransom was paid.
