The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has declared former beauty queen, Ms. Queen Oluwadamilola Aderinoye, wanted for drug-related offenses.
Femi Babafemi, Director of Media and Advocacy at the NDLEA, stated that the suspect, decorated as Miss Commonwealth Nigeria Culture 2015/2016 and founder of the Queen Christmas Foundation, escaped from her Lekki apartment to evade operatives.
During the inspection of her home, 606 grams of Canadian Loud, a synthetic strain of cannabis, an electronic weighing scale, large quantities of drug packing plastics, a black RAV 4 SUV marked Lagos KSF 872 GQ, and her picture frame were discovered.
The suspect, also known as Ms. Aderinoye Queen Christmas, was declared wanted after the NDLEA raided her apartment at Oral estate, Lekki on January 24th, acting on credible intelligence suggesting her involvement in illicit substances.
Two members of an international drug trafficking ring, Sunday Michael Owoborode (52) and Valentine Anene, were arrested the next day in Edu Orita, Ogun state.
Valentine was preparing to travel with drugs to Qatar.
Additionally, Sunday Adediran (50) was arrested in Lagos on January 24th with 20kg of cannabis sativa.
In another incident, a Brazil returnee, Udechukwu Ekene Theophilus, was arrested at Murtala Muhammed International Airport for ingesting 60 big wraps of cocaine.
The NDLEA observed him expelling a total of 60 wraps of cocaine weighing 1.279 kilograms.
On January 25th, NDLEA operatives at Lagos airport impounded 12 cartons of tramadol 225mg, containing 599,900 pills weighing 385.40kg from an overstayed cargo.
This tramadol consignment arrived in two batches on KLM Royal Dutch Airline flights from Karachi, Pakistan, between July 27th and August 1st, 2023.
Other drug seizures included 822 kilograms of cannabis sativa in Badagry, 111.3kg in Jigawa State, 49 blocks weighing 50kg in Yobe, and 318 compressed blocks weighing 190.8kg in Kogi state.
Several other arrests and seizures were reported across different states, demonstrating the NDLEA’s commitment to combating drug abuse.
The NDLEA continued its War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) advocacy campaign, conducting sensitization lectures and advocacy visits across various schools and communities nationwide.
Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd), commended the efforts of the agency’s officers and men across different commands for their achievements in drug supply reduction and drug demand reduction activities.
