Google has introduced “ImageFX,” an advanced AI image generator accessible through Labs.

Powered by the Imagen 2 model, also utilized in Bard, it joins Google’s suite of specialized tools like MusicFX and TextFX, providing creative freedom in visuals, music, and stylized text.

Imagen 2, developed by DeepMind, sets a new image quality standard, integrated into ImageFX, Bard, and Duet AI for Workspace apps.

Google refined the ImageFX prompt experience using techniques from MusicFX, featuring “expressive chips” for seamless experimentation.

For transparency, SynthID, a DeepMind technique, embeds a covert watermark in generated images, discouraging misuse.

Protective measures include filters against explicit content, and the model avoids producing images featuring known individuals, with extensive adversarial testing for responsible usage.

All ImageFX-generated images include IPTC metadata. Accessible through Google’s AI Test Kitchen in the U.S., Kenya, New Zealand, and Australia, it is limited to English-language users.
