Students at Micheal Okpara University of Agriculture protested the proposed tuition increase, alleging that the school barred those with unpaid fees from taking exams.
Videos circulating online showed students leaving exams and pursuing the vice-chancellor.
The vice-chancellor, Prof. Maduebibisi Ofo Iwe, issued a circular ordering the indefinite closure of the university, stating that over 70% had paid fees, but trouble arose from students labeled as miscreants.
All students were instructed to vacate the premises by 5:00 pm on February 6, 2024.
