Guam, where America’s day begins, witnessed the start of picketing by United Airlines flight attendants on Tuesday.
Rallying at the AB Won Pat International Airport, they chanted “Stand up! Fight back! Our contract is under attack” to kick off a Worldwide Day of Action for better pay and working conditions.
The local union president, Rsei Isim, highlighted that United’s flight attendants have worked without a contract for two and a half years, with some experiencing no raise for five years.
The call for fair contracts resonated globally, with demonstrations planned at 30 airports across the world, culminating in Hawaii tomorrow.
Isim emphasized the need for an industry-leading contract, hoping to avoid a union strike to meet demands.
