One of the individuals accused of murder in connection with the fatal shooting at the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl celebration admitted to police that his actions were “just being stupid.”
Lyndell Mays, 22, was captured on surveillance video approaching another group aggressively during a verbal dispute, ultimately opening fire in a crowd, including children.
Mays mentioned during a hospital interview that he hesitated due to the presence of kids but acknowledged his reckless behavior, stating, “I shouldn’t have done that.
Just being stupid.” Mays and Dominic M. Miller, 18, face second-degree murder charges and are held on $1 million bail.
The incident resulted in 23 victims, with local radio disc jockey Lisa Lopez-Galvan among those fatally shot.
Prosecutors indicate that more charges are likely.
