The British Council in Nigeria has recently disclosed a second fee hike for the academic International English Language Testing System (IELTS) examinations this year.
The new fees, set to be implemented from March 1, vary for different modules:
– IELTS on computer academic and general training modules: N266,000
– Test on paper academic and general training modules: N256,500
– UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI): N285,500
– Life Skills: N249,000
– One Skill Retake (O.S.R): N87,570
This adjustment follows a 29 percent increase from the previous rate of N107,500 earlier in the year.
The British Council, in a recent website update, attributed the fee change to evolving market dynamics and increased delivery costs of exams.
The council emphasized that the revised prices are a result of a reassessment of fees.
In September 2023, they had initially raised the IELTS cost from around N90,000 to N107,500, citing the necessity to uphold high-quality testing standards.
