The Nigeria Labour Congress suggests a new national minimum wage of N794,000 for workers in the South West geopolitical zone.
Funmi Sessi, chair of the Lagos State NLC branch, presented this proposal at the current public hearing of the Tripartite Committee on National Minimum Wage in Ikeja, Lagos.
Sessi emphasized that this demand reflects the collective agreement of all union members in the South West.
However, there are opposing views, with President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima considering a 37-member panel to discuss the matter, stating that Labour’s N1 million minimum wage is unrealistic.
