A military transport plane from Russia, carrying 15 individuals, crashed in the Ivanovo region northeast of Moscow after catching fire during takeoff.
The IL-76 aircraft, with eight crew members and seven passengers, experienced an engine fire leading to the crash.
Witnesses observed the plane descending with one engine ablaze, followed by a column of black smoke at the crash site.
Ivanovo Gov. Stanislav Voskresensky extended condolences to the victims’ families, noting no damage occurred on the ground.
The Russian Defense Ministry confirmed the incident but did not disclose casualty information.
This incident follows another IL-76 crash a few weeks ago, reportedly involving a plane Moscow claimed was carrying Ukrainian prisoners of war.
