British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran has disclosed the surprising inspiration behind his chart-topping hit “Shape Of You.”
He revealed that Rihanna from Barbados was the main influence during the song’s creation in 2017.
Sheeran explained that Rihanna’s versatility and talent make her a role model for songwriters, and he specifically envisioned her while crafting the melody and lyrics for “Shape Of You.”
The song’s success earned Sheeran a Grammy for Best Pop Solo Performance.
Additionally, Sheeran shared that he was involved in writing Justin Bieber’s hit “Love Yourself,” which initially faced rejections before landing with Bieber.
