A 40-year-old man named Kimton Sibanda, employed as a domestic worker at Bilas Farm in Bulawayo, has been sentenced to 350 hours of community service by a magistrate after admitting to bestiality charges.
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) stated that on March 26, 2024, Sibanda was caught engaging in sexual intercourse with a donkey inside his employer’s cattle kraal by two witnesses.
The witnesses promptly reported the incident to the police, leading to Sibanda’s arrest.
Sibanda pleaded guilty to the charges and received a wholly suspended 10-month imprisonment sentence. Alongside this, he was instructed to complete 350 hours of community service.
The offense of bestiality is outlined in Section 74 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act. It specifies that anyone who knowingly engages in a sexual act with an animal or bird is guilty of bestiality and can face a fine of up to or exceeding level fourteen, imprisonment for a maximum of one year, or both penalties.
