Hezbollah announced on Wednesday that it had launched missiles and drones at a military installation in northern Israel in response to Israeli airstrikes that had resulted in the deaths of Hezbollah members.
The Israeli military reported that 14 soldiers were wounded in the incident, with six in serious condition.
The Israeli military retaliated by targeting the sources of the attacks after identifying missile and drone launches from Lebanon towards the Bedouin village of Arab al-Aramshe, where soldiers were reportedly located in a community center according to Israeli news sources.
The day before, Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon resulted in the deaths of three individuals, including a Hezbollah field commander, as reported by Lebanese security sources.
This exchange of fire between Israeli forces and Hezbollah has been ongoing for over six months, running parallel to the conflict in Gaza, marking the most significant hostilities since the major war between the two sides in 2006.
Later on Wednesday, Israel’s air force confirmed that fighter jets had struck Hezbollah infrastructure north of Baalbek in eastern Lebanon, expanding beyond the usual southern border region where Israeli strikes have been concentrated.
These continued clashes have raised concerns about the potential for further escalation, particularly in light of Iran’s recent retaliatory attack on Israel, involving hundreds of explosive drones, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles launched on Saturday night.
Israeli officials have pledged to respond to these attacks.
According to reports, at least 370 Lebanese individuals have died in the fighting, including over 240 Hezbollah fighters and 68 civilians.
Additionally, 18 Israelis, comprising both soldiers and civilians, have lost their lives during this period of conflict.
