A woman has recently lodged a lawsuit for sexual assault against Steven Tyler, the lead singer of Aerosmith, claiming that she was assaulted twice in 1975 at the age of 17. Jeanne Bellino, the plaintiff, has filed this legal case at New York’s Supreme Court, alleging that she has endured significant and enduring emotional distress.
This legal action follows a prior case brought by Julia Misley last year, in which Tyler denied all allegations. As of now, Tyler has not issued a response to Bellino’s claims.
According to legal documents, Ms. Bellino was working as a model in Manhattan when a friend arranged a meeting with the rock band after a fashion show. The singer purportedly forced Ms. Bellino into a phone booth during a walk through the city with several other people. The documents describe Tyler’s actions as “mauling and groping,” with Ms. Bellino resisting his advances while he restrained her. Shockingly, the documents allege that his bandmates and entourage watched and did nothing to intervene.
Later, at a hotel bar, Ms. Bellino claims that Tyler pinned her against a wall and engaged in inappropriate conduct. She resisted and left the situation after being left in distress. The lawsuit states that Ms. Bellino has experienced significant emotional and physical distress, embarrassment, humiliation, and various injuries as a result of these incidents.
The BBC has sought comment from Tyler’s representatives regarding these allegations.
In unrelated news, in September, Aerosmith postponed several shows on their North America farewell tour due to vocal cord damage sustained by Tyler, who is 75 years old. They were scheduled to perform in Toronto, but this has been postponed until February 2024. Aerosmith, a Grammy-winning Boston band, was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame in 2001 and performed at the Super Bowl halftime show the same year.
