Minnesota will launch its new blackout license plates for purchase in January, following legislative approval earlier this year.
The basic black plates with white letters have gained popularity in other states like Iowa, Colorado, and Mississippi.
Starting January 1, Minnesotans can order these plates online or at registrars from January 2, with a higher cost than regular plates and an additional $30 annual fee.
