An Australian mother wrongly convicted of killing her four children, Kathleen Folbigg, had her convictions formally overturned by the New South Wales Court of Criminal Appeal.
Freed in June on the basis of new scientific evidence, the court’s ruling concluded one of the country’s notable miscarriages of justice.
Folbigg, who spent two decades in prison, expressed gratitude for the support and called for legal reform.
Her lawyer, Rhanee Rego, stated they would seek “substantial” compensation and urged the creation of an independent body to prevent future miscarriages of justice in Australian states.
