A mother and her four young children were tragically killed in their home near Paris during a violent Christmas crime.
The bodies were discovered on Christmas Day in their Meaux apartment.
The 33-year-old father, considered the primary suspect, was arrested on Tuesday.
Neighbors alerted the police after finding a pool of blood, leading to the grim discovery.
The 35-year-old mother and two daughters, ages 7 and 10, were stabbed to death, while the two boys, aged 4 and 9 months, were suffocated or drowned.
The mayor described it as an “absolute horror.” The suspect had a history of violence, including a 2019 knife attack on his wife.
He spoke of unhappiness and depression upon arrest and will undergo psychiatric examinations.
