Former President Goodluck Jonathan’s elder sister, Madam Obebhatein Jonathan, passed away at the age of 70 after a brief illness on Thursday at the Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
Known as Amissi, she was a retired teacher, businesswoman, and a devoted mother and grandmother.
The statement by Jonathan’s spokesman, Ikechukwu Eze, described her as a virtuous woman and role model.
The funeral is scheduled for Tuesday, February 16, 2024, with details to be announced by the family.
Madam Obebhatein Jonathan is survived by three children, siblings, including former President Goodluck Jonathan, and her mother, Mama Eunice Afeni-Jonathan.
